It is supposed to rain.....
That is a news-making event in the desert. I have to move the Buick to a new storage facility today. The outfit I use has three facilities within a stone's throw of each other here locally. They raise the price at one facility in order to rip off the snowbirds all they can. My facility doubled the rent on my storage locker. So I'm moving about a mile down the road, slightly to the west, OWNED BY THE SAME COMPANY (!!), the same size locker, but for half the money a month. The weatherguesser babe on TV says we might get over an inch of rain here, which will flood this place so as to not be fit to get an old car out in that. When this facility raises its rent next fall, I will probably move back to this one. Happens every year in October. I reckon snowbirds must be loaded, because every business like this raises their prices in the winter. They raised the rent on me to $465 a month. They get a snowbird who wants to reserve a space. They raise the rent on the space and run off their local renter. They get the big money from the snowbird until he leaves for the summer, then drop the price way down to attract a local renter again. Seems like a nasty way to do business.

Sounds like the way they price gasoline around here. It changes by the hour during the summer when all the tourists are here. Once they go home, it drops to a more normal price but still fluctuates weekly.

I got the car moved with no problem whatsoever. It is a "chamber of commerce" day here today. Sunny, not a cloud in the sky, 78 degrees. The only thing the weatherguesser babe mentioned that is somewhat true is that the wind is coming up a bit from the west. The storm is allegedly coming in from the Pacific. The wind was supposed to increase, then the rain comes in this afternoon. The way it looks outside right now, it may not rain until April....

Well, you know the old saying...April showers bring May flowers. Not sure if that works with desert flowers but it might.

Re: It is supposed to rain.....
I bought a Better Boy tomato plant from the store the other day. I had been watching it and petting it for a couple of months. They don't water the plants in the rack on the outside of the entry doors for some reason. I brought a bottle of water occasionally and would water this one particularly robust example. It was priced at $17.97 which was about $12.97 more than I wanted to pay. They marked them down on Monday, so I bought it and brought it home, half dead, root-bound and all wilty. I gave it some water and a shot of Miracle-Gro the minute I got it home. It sat out in the rain on Tuesday evening. It looks pretty good today, and has two new blooms. It already has four large, green tomatoes on it. It is really too big to try and transplant, so I'll see how it does in its current digs.

Re: It is supposed to rain.....
The weatherguesser babe said it was supposed to start raining this morning at midnight. We got nary a drop until about 5 this morning. Then it came straight from the west, wind driven. The rug on the east side of the shop door is not wet. We got enough rain to wet the concrete and make a puddle on top of the garbage cans. So far their inch of forecasted rain has been a bust. It is 56 degrees here, cloudy, with a cold west wind. We could use a good shower if it comes really easy. We can't handle a toad strangler here, everything floods.

Our forecast here in snow country for today was "possible rain showers." It was not raining this a.m. so I pedaled to work. My plan was to sneak out early but when I looked out it was sprinkling so I worked a bit longer and the rain stopped. Te weekend forecast is for temp in the 40s and 50s with maybe some rain. Almost all of the snow is melted.

When I lived in the deseret I preferred it rain for awhile to wash the gypsum dust off of everything that the initial rain brings.
