I don't remember this George Peppard show from the early 70s since it was on after my bedtime. MeTV is running it Saturday afternoons and I try to never miss an episode. Why? The cars and the guest stars!
Yesterday he was on a case in Vegas. His ride was a 6-door Mercedes Pullman. Other cars of his are the 41 Packard Darrin (which was a 30-year-old car when the series came out. Like me driving the 91 Brougham today), a new 73 Fleetwood 75 and my favorite--a 64 or 65 imperial limousine in navy with a black top... and all of them have car phones!
Now, he's supposed to be Polish but "Thomas" isn't really a Polish first name at all. Should have used George! And his sayings... first time I ever heard those. Still a great show and worth watching.
Anne Baxter was guest star a few weeks ago. Love anything she was in.

I think Banacek was on the same night as "Quincy, ME" was. Do you remember "Diagnosis: Murder" with Dick Van Dyke? And "The Streets of San Francisco" with Karl Malden and Michael Douglas? And "Barnaby Jones", or "Cannon"?

I can remember Quincy. That was after Jack did Odd Couple so it was later 70s. That show helped pique my interest in mortuary science.
"Diagnosis Murder" I remember. Rest I've seen in reruns.

I couldn't miss Barnaby Jones. Quinn Martin Productions was riding high in those days. "The FBI" with Efram Zimblast, Jr was another good show in that same general vein.

Re: Banachek
NBC had many good mystery genere programs during that time. They kept Universal Studios turning and burning with all the movie format anthology series, like The Name Of The Game, The NBC Mystery Movie, The Bold Ones. It seems like what they show is a fraction of what was offered in each.
