Sad Gutted "Shelton" Silvertone

Post: # 16565Post Hi-Fi-Mogul »

I've been seeing more "cabinet only" hi-fi skeletons.

This Sears may have been a pretty nice console.
What's left looks interesting to me.

It has the early 1960's fold out speakers design,
and speaker holes indicate probably not high end.

At least you get the Crescent 45 RPM adapter with it.

How do you get to Shelton from Silvertone ?
(some really dumb auto-populate crap out there)

You know, Mr. Mogul, with a little creativity, one could make a really nice little rig out of that. The controls are still there, and building or adapting an amplifier shouldn't be a big deal. I have the guts out of an ugly GE console I trashed the cabinet on. It has the controls, tuner and amp all ready to go. It has a power transformer power supply and SE 7189 output. It shouldn't be a big deal to find suitable speakers. Somebody should save that cabinet. It is in nice shape overall and is rather unique. Whadda ya' think? ;) ;)

I agree brother Greg.

I actually have a Columbia 1958 consolette that Dave1138 and
I could never get the amp to function well.

I have a 1958 RCA amp with 3 controls like the Columbia has.

I'm thinking later on of doing an amp transplant,
because the Columbia cabinet is super nice in and out.
