Even a blind hog will find an acorn occasionally....

I decided to wade into the forum software website to read what was available on the care and feeding of our Downloads extension. After reading the various issues users were having with the extension, none of the posted issues matched the one I was having. I read ALL of the various threads concerning Downloads. The writer of the extension does not use English as a first language. Many of the posters who were discussing the extension did not use English as their first language. I concluded that the issue I was having was unique to our forum. I further concluded that something I had done, or something I had not done, was likely the issue causing our problem. But what? The writer of the extension, the guy answering all the questions and replying to comments kept mentioning a drop down box at the top corner of the page on the ACP. I had not seen that drop down box,or had paid it no mind if I had seen it. I have believed, since we installed this extension, that there were certain features I would like to see the extension have. Such as the ability to reset how many posts a new member must have before they can upload or download. By default, it was set at 25. It is now set at 5. I found the drop down box and sure enough, it provided many of the features I would like to have had working with the extension. One of the settings I found was the limit to the total "computer space" that Downloads was allowed to use. Default was 500 KiB, a tiny amount. Individual members' permissions were set at 500 GiB, a factor of one million more. Somehow, perhaps when the "code" in the header went rogue, this setting again reverted to the default setting. Therefore the software shut you guys all down because we had exceeded this setting. I reset the value to 500 GiB, and we had our Downloads extension back. There are two place to set this value. I had set it in one place ad nauseum with no improvement. So, like the title says, and to quote Uncle Fort, "even a blind hog will find an acorn occasionally"...... ;)
