Just can't win...

I am finding these old consoles like our bodies are a never ending struggle to keep operating ... electrically restoring is not enough. I.E. the tape deck on the Maggie imperial has been gone through and re-capped and a couple leaky transistors were replaced and it was tuned and balanced on the oscilloscope ... it has played fine for a couple years and sounds great ... today?.... turned it on , nothing...powers up but no movement out of the motor ... I had to manually spin the capstan to start it ... once going it is fine , it is not a brush , but an induction motor. I am hoping the run cap I installed has failed , either that or a winding is burning up... I have the Panasonic clone for parts... but how good is a 50 year old replacement motor?....
