Hot for Vermont at least, 93 today and humidity makes it worse. The water temp is 70 so we put our beach chairs right in and face them to the North, good way to beat the heat! Hear it's a bit warm-ish out in the South and West too.

It was 115 here yesterday with 7% humidity. Dry heat, but warm when it gets above 110. Stay hydrated and in the shade as much as possible. We dehydrate faster as we age than when we were younger, with more dramatic results. Stay safe! ;) ;)

The Deep South and Tex getting 105+ and 60% or more humidity... now that's uncomfortable.
We have 2 new mini-split Mitsubishi A/C-heat pumps at camp so we can be comfy inside if we want, but the Lake is so much nicer to sit in!

It was in the mid 90's here over the last few days, but it has moderated to the upper 80's, with evening pop up thunderstorms followed with hot humidity that lets you steam hot dogs in your shirt pocket.

On the 90s, temp and likely humidity, here in MI on Tuesday. Cooler today (Thursday); 70s for temp. Cooler still out on Grand Traverse Bay where I was sailing tonight. The wind was from the N (I'm calling this the summer of north winds) so the air was coming all the way from the Upper Peninsula, about 100 miles, over water. It was bouncy out there tonight and that made for a few interesting moments. I waited for the wind to drop in order to approach my mooring--it always does--but it didn't. Trying to pick up the mooring in big seas was the most interesting phase.

Yes, we went from the 90's with humidity to match to 55 this morning and it was a great night for sleeping last night. I had all the windows open, fans drawing the cool air through the house and when I got up this morning at 6 it was 62 in the house with the humidity way down.

Is anyone still getting smoke from Canada? It went away here last weekend thankfully.
I can't imagine the heat we've had in combination with that pollution. Some say these kind of summer fires may become more common...yuck.

The smoke was gone in lower PA by Wednesday. 89 yesterday with sunshine but typically muggy for this area. AQI was almost 200 on weekend, today it is 78.

On monday, wife called to say downstairs AC is not cooling  bad news follows when I start calling contractors, getting prices and excessive lead-time getting components. Stopped short of having anyone come out, saving some $$$ ;)

Long story short, my ESR tester told me the motor starting capacitor was completely open (located inside the outdoor unit) neither compressor or fan would start. Getting two new ones today but its back using borrowed parts.
Bulged like a cupcake, the flux has leaked out of this capacitor

Fun fact: I used same tools as if working on vintage electronics from nut drivers to test equipment :ugeek:

I've never seen a cap mounted like that. Pretty elegant

The replacement was $15.50 at HVAC supply, has a metal crimped top like most other "run capacitors"

I replaced one in a window unit 2 years ago during covid. Try to find a 15k btu window ac that runs on 120 at that time... I think it was $10 and running fine since. It was that or no AC.

It was 90+ in NEPA for the last 3 days. I've been trying to get some outdoor painting done in the mornings. I watered the new hydrangeas in the morning and, by 2 PM, they're wilted.

We had a deluge today. It was a sauna after. Steam wafting off the streets. In 7 months, we'll be frozen so...
