A fifteen minute errand turns into a mangled Mini...

No good deed goes unpunished. I splurged here awhile back and bought a plan at the new car wash just down the road so I could get my car washed whenever I wanted for one "small fee" a month. Today, the wife wanted some ear corn, so I volunteered to go to the store and get her some corn, then go across the road and have the Mini washed. About halfway thru, I heard something hit the car. When I got out of the car wash, I noticed a dent in the roof of the car. The manager of the car wash looked at the surveillance video and found I had a non-dented car when I started thru the car wash. The manager tried to get me to go to "my guy" and have it looked at. I declined his offer, then stated I'd turn it in to State Farm. I'll go to the Penske shop we used last time. They specialize in German cars. They do great work, or did the last time. The dent is like someone took a tack hammer and put a ding in the roof. I figure $5000 worth of damage. The headliner will need to come down, then the entire roof will have to be painted. With car rental, damage to the car and expenses, I don't believe I'll be far off. All to do a good deed, that should have taken maybe 30 minutes, tops. I really liked that car wash. I'll go back to washing the car myself, or driving it dirty.
To add insult to injury, I missed Western Red in it's entirety. That is my favorite Saturday radio program and arguably the best country music on the radio, certainly west of the Rockies.
