I put the Buick to bed for the summer.....

You guys back east are getting your cars out and dusting off the cobwebs. I put Sta-Bil in the gas tank, then added $30 worth of gas so the tank wouldn't be totally empty, but have room for expansion. That $30 worth of gas wet the bottom of the tank.....
I used Quik Detailer on it, gave it a lick and a promise and drove it 14 miles. It is pulled to the front of the storage unit to keep as much dust at bay as possible during the monsoon season. I'll try to go down and start it once a month or so and let it run for a few minutes. I had Discount Tire over-inflate the tires so if they lose some air, they won't be too low to drive back to Discount in the Fall and have them checked for the winter car show season. I hope you guys have fun with your cars this summer.
I have the Buick double-covered then plastic tarped to try and keep the monsoon dust off. That stuff is so fine, it gets in everywhere and penetrates even the smallest spaces. I have it in a 30' storage unit so as to keep it away from the door as far as I can. I have the engine in first, because the back end is easier to clean than the engine compartment. I disconnect the battery, per the insurance rules and the storage facility rules.

I'd bet a black car is a regular oven there during the summer. It got into the 80's here yesterday. That'd be more than enough for me.

Yes we pretty much do the same things in reverse according to our opposite car season. I also always fill the tanks up 95% with No Ethanol fuel and accordingly have no need for Sta-Bil. Start em up every 2-3 weeks through the winter. Same procedure with the boat but no start up at all for 6-7 months, use No Alky gas, no Sta-Bil, but do use OMC 2+2 and Carbon Gard for 2 stroke outboards in the last Fall tank... starts right up on the "muffs" in May every time so far (knock-on-wood!).

Just last night I fired up the Mustang for the first time this season. Yup, we're exactly out of sync. My older sailboat goes in on Monday and after that I'll call my storage guy about when I can get the Chevy out.

I don't know about you guys, but here it seemed winter lasted about a month and a half.

Here in Michigan, that month and a half was in March and April. 40 degrees in April is way colder than 10 degrees in January. They promised us 80 degrees today (Friday) so I wore shorts and Hawaiian shirt to work. But I'm on the bike so I checked the temp before leaving and it was below 60. I added an insulated vest. Good move. It was OK going in. On the way home, the temp had dropped below what it was in the a.m.--never mind reaching 80--and the vest should have been a jacket.

You should know better, Chris.

Whatever the weather guessers say figure the opposite, after all we live in Michigan where the weather is never predictable.

I kept an M65 jacket with liner, a fleece jacket, a waterproof windbreaker in the car and a insulated vest tor the area where I work under a A/C vent. I'm putting up the M65 for the summer now.

Odd that summer is car storage season. I finally got the 62 cadillac straightened out and ready to get to the body shop.
Latest issue is the guidematic headlight dimmer works when the battery is at 11.9 volts and locks on high when the car runs... probably a dim/hold adjustment.

I keep a fleece jacket and Dad's old wool shawl-collar sweater at my office. And I have an electric heater. The ladies always have definite ideas about temperatures, and they fiddle with the thermostat endlessly. Up, down. I just keep my mouth shut and adjust the clothing. And I have a window that opens. Most often it's used in the summer to let warm air in.
