We are having a house full of people today for dinner. Fried chicken, ham, mashed potatoes, deviled eggs, all the good stuff. Even little kids to add to the mix. That will be different for us. We are hanging all the "old people stuff" off the ceiling so as to not tempt little hands.....

Your v lucky, are your family in the area? Ours are in VT (300 miles) and Denver (1600 miles), so it's just us and the ham!
Happy Easter or Passover to all!

We had people here from New Jersey that we hadn't seen in a few years. They have three kids, 10, 8, and 6 and I now have high blood pressure. I'm not used to having little kids around. They get into everything and our house is not kid-friendly as fas as things setting around to get broken. I'm exhausted.

For me, curry chicken salad on croissants at my sister's house. It's sailboat-prep season and I've been taking 3-day weekends to accommodate all the steps required. The hull-painting project this winter damaged my varnished mahogany, as i expected it would, so I'm repairing the bad areas. Stain, then varnish, varnish, varnish, building coats up to match the undamaged areas with the occasional sanding after the weekend's work has set up for a week. Then it's off to my mother's house to continue emptying it. When my brother worked at the church furniture factory he brought home lots of oak and maple scraps for projects. Lots. I've hauled out 6 full garbage cans and several bundles and a bunch of boxes full and there's still much to do. It's a matter of sorting: these for firewood, those for project lumber. There's the occasional scrap of walnut or mahogany, and some redwood from other projects.
Today we finally had temps in the 60s. Yay! I did some epoxy work on the boat today now that it's warm enough for it to set up in a reasonable time.
Now listening to the Sunday night blues show. The host had a great interview with Chris Strachwitz, founder of Arhoolie Records about his experiences with the artists.

I traveled to the city to spend Easter there, and there were 3 kids too. 11, 9, 7, and all very busy. Grandma had stuff for them to do and they always bring some of their own stuff along. It was fun, good food, and even an Easter Egg hunt outdoors in the sun and 69-degree weather.

Sorry I missed it. My sister is in the hospital recovering from surgery to remove pressure from cervical vertebrae. She is recovering nicely so far.
