We have an old 2011 vintage all in one HP printer that still works and has served us well. The cost of ink cartridges is very high. Now $150 for the four cartridges
This is a plot by HP to intice us to buy a new printer. I'm told there are places online where one can buy cartridges for older printers for lots less money. Reckon those places would supply a usable product?
https://www.printerinkusa.com/
They sure have good prices. Wonder if the cartridges would work dependably?

The last straw for me was I purchased a new sealed box of ink carts and when I tried them they were either dry or barely printed at all... took them back to the store and bought a all in one laser printer ... it is black print only... the carts cost about the same as inkjets but they last a long time... and they never dry out ...

I always buy my cartridges on ebay. I always get OEM cartridges using a saved search for only OEM (not "compatible") cartridges. I use a search with the price from low to high and can usually find cartridges for half of retail. I have had too many bad experiences with remanufactured cartridges to trust them.

I've had my share of stale HP ink cartridges from stores that either don't rotate their stock, or just don't sell enough of them. I now buy my HP ink cartridges direct from HP.
I've had no luck at all with off-brand cartridges.
Two tricks that I use to make the cartridges last longer are:
1) I have the printer set to draft mode to save ink when printing text or schematics.
2) I make sure to print a full color image every week or two so that the cartridge print heads don't dry up.
