AR-7 Survival Rifle

I had a Charter Arms version of this rifle that I handed down to my great nephew, last weekend. Iron sights aren't so friendly to my old eyes and I thought it would be a good rifle for him to teach his young son to shoot. It's a relatively simple .22 caliber delayed blowback semi-automatic rifle that disassembles into 4 parts, the 4th being the stock that the other 3 portions stores within. Here's a description and review of the rifle.

No problem, Bill. Watching the video, I see the Henry rifle holds 2 magazines, as opposed to 1 for the Charter Arms version. Also I owned and shot mine since 1983 and had no problems with it.

Passing something that means a lot to you down to someone who means a lot to you is as good as it gets. Good for you!

He's a good kid and an excellent mechanic. He failed the wrong classes in high school and he worked to complete allof his necessary classes and got his diploma. He immediately started work at Snapper here. He married soon after and has a nice family and another good job with a medical sterilization company. The whole family is proud of him and happy for his family. He had a neighbor give him a BMW to haul away as it couldn't be repaired. He drives it every day. He renovated a Toyota for his wife to drive.

How old is this kid? He definitely sounds like a good boy and someone you can be proud of, which in today's world is hard to find.

OK, time for a dissent. Let's not get into "Things were better in my day." They were different, yeah, but we have selective memories. As to young folks, there are lots of good ones around. They are raised by responsible parents (people like you & me & our friends), they make mistakes as all kids do and learn from them, and they are much more capable than I was at a similar age. The other day our town listserv had a piece by a dad who arrived home with his kid. The son said "Just a second, Dad," and walked over to pick up the neighbor's recycling bin that had blown over in the wind. A small thing, yes, but to the father, it signaled that the kid was on the right track. For many years I volunteered as a marine science instructor on the local Schooolship. One school brought a physically and maybe mentally disabled kid along. All of the other kids assumed some responsibility for the disabled one and checked in with him regularly. It spoke volumes about the quality of the teachers, parents, and the kids themselves.
I'll agree that their music has little value and some of the styles of dress make me smirk. But then, my music made my parents cringe, not to mention how I showed up in public lookin', as I thought, pretty cool. It's a good thing we have photos to keep us humble.

He's around 32-33 now. There were plenty of kids who had problems, those who developed a better attitude with age and the ones who who were good out of the box. it was the same then as now. My nephew likes rap and hip-hop with a preponderance toward the latter. He drove the 30 miles over to help me with a injector changeout on my truck. I always try to give him something to help the check last.

Your nephew is a good kid, maybe not his choice of music

, but a good kid.
I have an adopted nephew that is very similar to your nephew, Rex. He was brought up in a good home with loving parents that cared. Dad worked and mom was a stay-at-home mom. The work ethic rubbed off and my adapted nephew is not one to set still. He is constantly working on something to help provide for his wife and three kids. He can fix anything, and for his profession he is a vehicle tech and a really good one. His wife is a nurse but only works one day a week caring for an elderly lady. The rest of the time she is a stay-at-home mom. His sister is the complete opposite. She is married with 2 kids. Husband has a good job, but it's never enough and she is never happy. In her world, her life sucks and she is constantly making everyone's life around her miserable. Both kids were brought up in the same loving home. Both are totally different. Both influenced by today's world, but both chose to see the world with a different set of eyes.

Bill, that says so much about what life brings us and what we bring to the life. Both needs to be tended to for a good happy life.
