Looking specifically for the C400 model with good chrome with or without its paired tuner

I have a friend that has a Craftsman amp, but I do not know it it's that model number. I will ask the next time I talk with him and let you know.

Those are very nice amps, quite sought after, especially in Japan, and typically pretty expensive if in good and working condition.

Perhaps.... nothing special build-wise but ohhh, the Chrome ! The model 10 Tuner/preamp is an exemplary player both AM and FM.... has two gain stages for phono and an extra output I cut one stage from to allow auxiliary playback from Cell and other legacy players ! The tone stack is very good as well !

I've recently heard from my Scott Radio friends that, as with the Export, SLRM, and 800 EH[/img] Scott series, at least one Craftsmen sported the "Scott" logo. These were days typically post War when Scott was largely produced by the Hallicrafter Co.

The transformers used in RC products was considered a cut above many others of the era, and sought after now particularly in Asia.

Evidently the 1952-ish Scott radio that had the musical note through the O in it's "Scott" logo (no prefix) was a product of E.H. Scott. and related to Radio Craftsmen? The RC-10 looks very similar to some of the Scott products of that musical note logo era. Consider the RC in photos above vis-a-vis the Scott shown in this SAMS.

Mr EH Scott was long gone when these and other Hallicrafter products used his namesake. The tuner pictured above is the Model 10, circa 51-53. At this time even McIntosh had not produced a chrome chassis to
my knowledge. Yes they have audio quality perhaps a step
above period pieces but much earlier 6V6 executions as
this C400, had equal merit ! Case in point is the 38 Scott Masterpiece pictured below. Asians have longed for these supplies and their associated field coil drivers.
Sadly many outstanding radios were parted with the onset of EBay. Tragedy !
