I still say hydrogen is the way to go... they have finally figured out a safe medium to store the gas.... that was the only stumbling block ... that and refueling stations...

I wonder if we may see other "surprises" when we get more EV's on the road.

I've got 5 cars titled in my name, all gas-burners, but I'll bet the EVs are our future. The big manufacturers seem to think so. Early gas-burners faced lots of skepticism too. Fuel was hard to find. Tires were flimsy and a constant annoyance. The roads were not designed to support them; horses had to drag them out of the mud.
Today I had a medical procedure and since I was taking the morning off work, I took the rest of the day off as vacation. I washed the Mustang for the first time this year. As I was vacuuming, a high-schoolish kid came down the alley and said "I like your car." We chatted for a moment and he observed that it had a manual transmission. I was impressed that he knew what that was. Of course, when we all drive EVs, even the idea of "transmission" will be antique.
And speaking of electric life, the med procedure was cool. It was a Cardiolite Stress Test. This is a medical-miracle process. Unlike the last stress test years ago that was just me huffing and puffing on the treadmill with an EKG attached, this one involved nuclear imaging. They poked some radioactive stuff into my arm. Then after a short wait I laid down and a robotic device rotated slowly around my chest, making images. The tech said it was a high-tech Geiger counter--it was imaging the radioactive blood flow. It would move a bit, pause a few seconds, then move a bit more. After that it was off to the treadmill for huffing and puffing with the EKG, then another dose of radioactive stuff in the arm and back to the imaging device to see what had changed. I assume that it's comparable to a CT scan in the sense that the device made a bunch of images and they will be somehow assembled and clarified to give a useful image of my heart at work. In a few seconds I'll walk outside in the dark and see if I glow. Even if I don't, this is still a very impressive bit of technology.

EV's may be available and more plentiful in the future, but none of us on this forum will live to see the 100% demise of the internal combustion engine in use somewhere.
Besides, where do we put the batteries in your Chevy or in my Buick? What are we going to stash under those hoods that are almost six feet long?

I go for an echocardiogram early in August. I wonder just how telling they actually are.
