Classic Hifi Care

Here's a little stereo portable the wife picked up at a charity event a few years ago. It runs off 6 D-cells and I take it outside to play stacks of 45's on while I bar-b-que. All it needed was a service on the changer and a new stylus.
Not hi-fi but makes for outdoor fun.

What's the battery life on that? Probably more with alkaline cells now. Maybe a good application for rechargeable cells? I have a bunch of those little outdoor lights that use AA NiCads and I'm surprised by how many cycles they tolerate. The lights run down to zero each night,I think.

That is a cute little stereo. Any indication of who made it?

In my youth working at the Gamble store we sold a similar looking unit. It was labeled with the Gamble's brand which was Coronado, but that does not help either because Coronado farmed everything out too. I do know a lot of the Coronado stuff was made by Well-Gardner and Panasonic. So, maybe Panasonic?

I think you maybe right bill... I had a friend that had something that looked similar and it was a panasonic , although the changer looks like a GE design neat little player ...

I do think it's a Panasonic built unit for Singer. The clues are Matsushita transistors on the amp pc board.
The changer is a BSR UA/50-5

Thanks. Panasonic it is. Sanyo made things like that for Sears and others. Sanyo was my guess.
