Here's what I tried to send yesterday. Let's try again.

[The day before] Yesterday I washed the Chevy and put its new top down for the 1st time. That new white vinyl looks so good I almost hated to put it down. But down it went. The rear window has an improved zipper system. I left it down last night after checking the weather with an old Subaru cover on most of it to keep bird pop out. I had forgotten how nice it is to drive a convertible. Today the forecast was for possible rain ca. 7 p.m. So I drove to the marina and went sailing. Threw the boat cover over the Chevy just in case.

It was a great day for lazy sailing. Lately the weather has made for high-anxiety sailing--edge-of-disaster stuff. There are lots of adjustments son sailboats to accommodate different wind conditions. But most of them require another crew member to handle to boat or the adjustment. I mostly sail single-handed these days (just me). So when the wind increases and things get edgy, it's hard to make the changes. Today? Making about 3-4 knots(3-1/2 to 4-1/2 mph). Slow, but I listened to the radio (great interviews of Al Green from 1985 and 2010 by Terry Gross) and had not a worry. Good way to spend a holiday afternoon. As always, I fly the "yacht ensign" from the stern flag staff in honor of my Dad. That was the first thing he added to the boat.

Well, there was one minor worry. The top-down Chevy and the rain. I looked west at one point and it looked dark. That usually means "too late, Chris." So I turned back, sailed all the way upriver, and the darkness had dissipated. A few hours later we had about 6 drops. By then I was in the Mustang.

Red (Mustang) white (boat) and blue (Chevy).
