My ST-82 sounds pretty good for what it is. I had a console with the same chassis. The cabinets are beautiful, the electronics are not Motorola's best. Mine is hard to keep running. The function switch is wonky as was the one on the console. The 17C9 tube in the tuner is interesting. The performance on mine is about on par with the GE RP-1590 I have. Very pleasant, but will not damage drywall......

Any one know what type of connectors connect to the external speaker connection board on the back of the cabinet? Attached is a circled photo of the OP’s external speaker connection board circled in red and a manual that shows a type of 2-prong plug to power external speakers. Regular banana plugs don’t fit in the holes, the holes are too small.

To use external speakers, you are supposed to have purchased the external speakers from Admiral, which would have come with connectors like is shown in the picture. You also have to remove the jumpers shown in the picture of my set. I think what I would do if I wanted to run external speakers would be to rig up short wires with RCA jacks or whatever then solder them to the wires on the speaker board and just bypass that setup.

Or use pieces of #12 wire, or the tube base pins from the defunct 6V6.
