speaker tests good ... but no sound?
ever run across of this before?... my son is hooking up his subwoofers in his car , he tested the speakers on his home stereo , one speaker is dead ... but ohm it out and it reads OK... put a battery across it and it clicks like it should... hook it up to a sound source .... nothing...this is a first for me...I can't figure that out

That's a new one for me. I'd suspect the sound source, but that is only a guess. Keep us informed if you find the solution.

the only thing I can think of is... the VC has a short somewhere in the winding , allowing it to click from a battery and read on a meter , but probably close to one end of the coil winding where it is not enough to allow a signal to pass?

Is the cone free to move, or is it frozen in place? Another idea, is this a dual voice coil subwoofer, it will make a big difference how the voice coils are wired. These are the things I could think of that might be looked at.

Did you ever figure out what was going on with the speaker?

Re: speaker tests good ... but no sound?
Yea... my son is a maroon .... JK... he thought he could run sub woofers without a amplifier to push them.... no sound because he had no amp to power them ... that is why they tested OK but no sound ... he has since ordered regular full range woofers for the rear and we wired them to the back channels... all is good, it really didn't matter , I brought the subs home and tested them ... they are partially blown anyways... no wonder his friend gave them to him...
