'63 Buick Wildcat

Desert Sand, air, cornering lights, power windows. Not well-optioned, but has all the good stuff. The engine sounds horrible. Something isn't right. All you should be able to hear is the alternator whining and the power steering pump hissing. Not the best color, but this one looks good in that color. It has the wrong wheels, but most Wildcats and Electras of that vintage are so equipped. The wheels are "boat tail wheels" Mark 4 road wheels made for disc brakes. You need 1/4" spacer on the front wheels so the wheels will seat properly on the aluminum drums. Vogue whitewalls aren't right, either. Those belong on a Cadillac.

Actually, I think I will take this one instead. This car is gorgeous! Growing up, the doctor that brought me into this world had a 1963 Riviera this color. I always loved that car and that color. He drove the Buick Riviera, and his wife drove a Deville convert. In 1966 he traded in the Riviera for a 1966 Toronado in the same color. I got to ride in both cars as they were friends of my parents. Both very impressive vehicles. The Toro was an incredible car. Smooth, quiet, and boy did it have the power. As a kid who loved cars, I was impressed by both, and put them on my list of wants when I grew up. I did have two Riviera's. The first was a 1972 and the other a 1973 GS. The 73 had every option and I wish I still had it.

Beautiful cars from GM's best era! Not a huge fan of the color when there's so many so much more interesting shades. I'd also take a Riv over this 'cat... either a 1st or 2nd Gen (thu '67). This '67 Riv GS belongs to my friend and I have 1st dibs if/when he goes to sell it.. I LOVE the color combo as well as the shape, the dash design and interior, even the air-cleaner...in every way it's certainly one of Bill Mitchell's best!

Those Wildcats were some of the best work of the Mitchell ere. My 2nd grade teacher had one and i remember for the first month of school we hardly spent any time on the playground at recess, instead standing around and cupping our hands over the windows of her fire engine red beauty to gaze at the interior. On reflection, i must say she had to have been a patient lady, having to have her side windows smudged, smeared, breathed and drooled on to drive home each day.
