My late FIL always told me that I'd never have back trouble, that I'd never work hard enough to hurt myself! I've been lucky. My wife has horrible back issues. Glad to hear you are getting some relief. I'd fly to Georgia to be your driver if you took me to Longhorn on the way home......

The doctor said there may be some short term pain from the ablation, but I've not had any yet. My right side feels as it was, but the left, nada. I reckon I'll be doing pretty good after the next steak powered trip to the doctor.

By way of encouraging waiting, I'll add that my sciatic nerve attack resolved itself with time and PT. After three weeks, I could walk while standing up fr short distances. The injury was on March 23 and the butt, leg, and ankle are completely normal now. In the middle, I re-injured the other knee (torn meniscus), and that has resolved with time and diclofenac (Voltaren) cream. It's an OTC NSAID. It did not work on my heels previously but had an almost immediate effect on the knee.

It's good to see you getting back to health. That diclofenac can be a real help. Unfortunately It didn't work for my trouble this time around. The diclofenac tablets take the edge off, though.

My doctor encouraged waiting, but then confessed that after he had waited 3 mo. and developed an ulcer from ibuprofen, he opted for surgery. I was lucky, but the point is that trying waiting is the first option. There were a couple times while waiting that I was about to choose amputation. The things got better. Luck.

I'll always advise folks to exhaust all other options before choosing surgery. My sister has had 50 years worth of surgeries on her back in the hope of finally achieving freedom from pain. Each surgery has changed the pain, nothing more. I guess it could have been worse without all the fusings and other stiffenings. It's good she has the perseverance to go on through it. I don't know that I could.

After 2 nearly pain free days, today I'm getting a bit stiff and painful in my affected area. Tried a Diclofenac. It cut the pain by 10-15 percent and lasted an hour.

Sorry to hear about your fall Rex, it is one of my biggest fears as I age. I'm glad you got a very nice niece to help you get around.

They're doing a full inspection of my inner ears and nasal/sinus system. I hope they find something to correct. I dropped like a sack of potatoes.

The middle of last week, I began to notice what looked like my hair falling down over my right eye. Well, I found that it isn't my hair. There are long hairlike shapes running vertically down the right third of my right eye, with small floaters that look like wadded up hairs that move about after my head or eye moves. Went to the eye doctor Friday. The doctor examined my eyes and assured me that I was not "seeing" things. She said it was a separation of the fluid in the eye from the cornea. So now I have ruined peripheral vision in my right eye, to go with the cataract in my left eye. I still have to get my eye exam to renew my drivers license. I hope that works.
