I found this interesting. A lot of my friends, neighbors and customers worked there.

I had a customer who worked at RCA and had a school bus that he hauled other workers in. They would have a bus full, no air conditioning. The passengers would be soaked thru their clothes with sweat, this after working all day in the plant. He had a Ford chassis bus with a Carpenter body. Bought a new one every two years. That's how long the tires would last and how long it took before the bus needed major work on the engine and chassis. He always bought a 391 "FT" V-8 that got a whole 5 miles to the gallon, but his was on gas that cost less and 40 cents a gallon, so that didn't matter as much. The bus had a five speed transmission with a "short fourth" and a two-speed rear end. He would bring the bus in about every two months for an oil change and "grease job". Several people in town worked at RCA, Sarkes Tarzian, Otis Elevator, Westinghouse or at Indiana University. The guy with the bus hauled people who worked anywhere in Bloomington.
