Jerry Lee Lewis does country

I was not a huge fan of Jerry Lee during his rock and roll days, the "Whole Lot Of Shakin' Goin' On" type material. I thought it was loud and undisciplined. Like Conway Twitty and other old rockers, Jerry Lee embraced country music sometime in the 1960's. I have two albums "Jerry Lee Lewis Sings The Country Music Hall of Fame Hits" Volumes 1 and 2. These albums are not part of a two-record set, they are individual albums, although I see they have consecutive numbers. On Smash Records, a division of Mercury. SRS 67117 and SRS 67118. By the time these records were made, in the 1969-ish time frame, Jerry Lee had lowered the noise, lowered the pitch, slowed down the tempo a tad and did a very credible job playing country music. IMHO these albums represent a high point in his county music career. Heavy on Hank Williams material, as could be expected, but also heavy in Don Gibson material. Not a bad note on either album, so it's tough featuring any song over another. "I Wonder Where You Are Tonight", "Fraulein", "Pick Me Up On Your Way Down", "One Has My Name (The Other Has My Heart)", written by Eddie and Dearest Dean. I just love the name Dearest Dean. I digress. Jerry Lee actually has a pretty good singing voice if he picks the right material. His piano playing is legedary, so it needs no discussion here. These are two very highly recommended albums if you like Jerry Lee Lewis. The fact that he is playing country music is of no consequence if you like to hear him play. A friend got me these albums after he played his for me one time. They sound REALLY good on my old Imperial stereo.....
