The place to talk about almost anything, as long as it's nice......

Being a vintage Jazz fan I'm very familiar with Willis Conover. He probably made more friends for America in propagating "America's classical music" than any DJ ever.

Back in the day traveling down I-75 near Cincinnati the VOA antennas were right there next to the highway... sadly they are now gone ...but like Shngo066 says why spend $$$$$ on expensive transmitters , when you can do the same by streaming .... other industry transformed by technology

There's a wonderful documentary about Newport, Jazz on a Summer's Day. Here's the Wikipedia entry:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jazz_on_a_Summer%27s_Day

And let's quote from it:
In 1999, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".[4][5] The film received a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The MC is Willis Conover.

I get free online movies from Kanopy via our public library. This was one of them last winter. And for my money, the most stunning performance was Anita O'Day. She was on fire.

William wrote: Tue Nov 02, 2021 11:51 am Chris, in the "other" forum you shared a plan on how to build an antenna for better radio reception. Would you mind sharing that plan again? I know I would like to see it and I'm sure other on this forum would as well.
If somebody can give me a tutorial in posting pdf images on this site, I'll try. Or I can send them by private e-mails.

Sorry, Chris, I have no idea how to add a pdf file. Maybe Greg knows and will share? Thank you!
