The car is real and still exists. They're about 50 years off on some of the motoring "predictions". It's not 1976. But how about the monitor dash? Auto pilot (even cruise control didn't exist in 1956). The phantom "GPS" ala OnStar...
All that glove box needed was a cocktail shaker with crushed ice and a dry/sweet vermouth and gin/bourbon dispensers...

1961 was the last Motorama. Interesting that every car is white (the number 1 color). No wonder i ended up with the 62 version of the cadillac in white... also, the premier was at the Waldorf in New York which is finally slated to reopen soon.
There's a console in the living room shots. I know ford made philco consoles but I don't ever remember GM marketing audio equipment or chrysler. I wonder what it is. No self-respecting couple would be without a hifi console in 1961!
Obviously GM promoted frigidaire appliances... GM touched almost every home whether you owned a GM car or not.

The console looks to be something custom but the fridge and range are definitely Frigidaire.
Walter, how come the Waldorf was closed?

Re: The future/present of drivability
It was sold out to investors by Hilton prior to covid... turned it into the same disaster as the Plaza... condos and a "boutique hotel". Wasted a ton of money and ran out of it to destroy a landmark, but that's just my take on it...
I stayed there in a small corner room on the 39th floor overlooking the herb garden. Still had the original bathroom fixtures and doors, hardware and woodwork. Maybe it wasn't the newest Motel 6 but that ain't the Waldorf... now the Waldorf ain't the Waldorf. That room is probably a condo laundry room now.
I remember driving to the garage and 3 porters came to take my luggage and park the car. I felt like a king with my 10 year old buick.

That is so sad, what a great historical loss.
