Rare as hen's teeth, What a beautiful car....

Post: # 24316Post electra225 »

A 1964 Oldsmobile 98 Holiday hardtop. I think this is the first one I have ever seen. Buckets, console, air, PW, PA, all the goodies. Even though the interior is one color, it makes the interior in the equivalent Buick Electra look like it belongs in a Checker cab. Grandpa's brother had a '63. This thing is almost as flashy as a Starfire....

Gorgeous, and it even has factory A/C, FM, and Reverb.

The center console and tach, and the bright metal seat trim, are identical to those in my '65 Starfire.

I suspect they were also used in the '64 Starfires. It seems more "exotic" to me to have such sporty features in a big, luxurious 98 for some reason..... ;)

I reckon my point in posting is my belief that Oldsmobile and Pontiac had snazzy interiors figured out in this era. ;)

That 3/4 view looks a lot like my Dads' 64 Buick lesabre.

Nice ride!

Amazing car. Why are there no engine or chassis pictures... that interior is mint.

Greg, do you remember the 1964 Oldsmobile 98 that was at the Pavilions car show that I fell in love with. It was red, 4dr, and had every option available that year. The guy lived in Prescott and drove it down to the show. I am trying to remember if it was the annual BOP car show for that year or just the every Saturday night car show at the Pavilions.

It was the BOP. That thing was quite the ride as well.

The reverb switch is the same design as the first-year twilight sentinel. I don't see cruise on this or power locks or vents.

That interior style and color scream 60s. Looks cool even without air conditioning.

When did Olds come out with power locks? It was 1965 on Buick with the exception of the Electra 4-door sedans, for some odd reason. The 98 at the BOP that Bill mentioned had power vents. It had everything, and I do mean, EVERYTHING......No power locks on it as I recall.

Funny, as long as I looked at that 98 I do not remember power locks either. It must have had them, it had everything else including the kitchen sink. ;) Somewhere on one of my electronic devises I have a photo of that 98. If I can find it I will share.

One of us should have owned that car. As I remember, the price was reasonable. That was the most loaded Oldsmobile I ever saw. I've only seen two factory loaded Electras in my life, and I own one of them. Typically, loaded Buicks were either furnished to "big wheels" in the company for bragging rights, or some rich person who didn't know where to find a Cadillac dealer. ;) ;)

The other one I saw was a '64 Electra Custom hardtop. It was more loaded than mine. It had every factory option, had been rotisserie restored, then had been T-boned by an Autocar concrete truck in LA. A friend bought it for parts, then used every part on the car except the left door and quarter panel. It was a factory 425 with dual four-barrel carb car.

If I recall the guy want $16,000 for the car which I thought was cheap, but I was in AZ and I live in Michigan and I did not feel like trusting a transportation company and beside I had no place to put it once home. I still think about that car and wonder it he sold it.
