Tube location sticker

Post: # 24131Post stbasil »

I sucked up part of the tube location sticker on the power amp (HS-1038B chassis) for my SK111 console. Not any version of that sticker in the Sam's docs. Could someone send me a picture so that I could print another one? Just want it for accuracy. Too bad the top of the chassis is so rusty (underside is not so bad), but I don't want to go through the hassles of fixing that! Although, maybe working it over with oxalic acid.....

"bandersentv" on YouTube uses CLR for removing gunge and rust from a chassis. It works nicely for him. I haven't tried it myself. ;)

I like using PB Blaster and maybe some steel wool in select areas. You have to be careful not to get the little steel wires in transformers and that...

A Motorola chassis with the 3DG4 rectifier sounds familiar. Methinks we have at least one member of the forum who has such a chassis in his collection...... ;) ;)

You may already be familiar with this little tidbit, but if you cover stickers you want to save with clear shipping tape, it protects them from compressed air or moisture.....
I haven't failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.....Thomas Alva Edison

Thanks for the suggestions--I ended up using crumpled aluminum foil. First, scrubbed with mineral spirits, then the foil, then removed the aluminum residue with mineral spirits again, and went over it with car wax to hopefully give it some protection from further rusting. Looks much better "in person", surface is smoother, but before and after photos don't look like there was much improvement, so I'm not posting those! It'll never look brand new without stripping the metal and re-plating, which I have no interest in doing. Lighting affects the color of the chassis in photos, it looks sorta gold-ish in white light, and the underside and the topside are still the same color after cleaning, so that's good!
