1962 G.E. Portable Tube Stereo

Discussions about instruments in smaller cabinets. If they don't set on the floor, they belong here. Tube and solid state, stereo and mono.

1962 G.E. Portable Tube Stereo

Post: # 23638Post Hi-Fi-Mogul »

I had recapped this RP-1570A player some time ago, and I
have a potential buyer.

Checking it out, the cartridge wire clips were really
oxidized, so I replaced those.

I put in a new idler wheel and stylus, so its ready.

When I reviewed the photos of the amp dis-assembly,
I remembered how this was a bit of a Chinese puzzle
box to get the amp out.

The amp is on a hefty PC board/metal frame, and
the cabinet and speakers are all steel construction.

The original G.E. C-100 phono cart works well in the
custom V-M record changer.

The GE C-100 is a nice sounding cartridge. Those little GE Trimline stereos are great performers for what they are.
Life can be tough. It can be even tougher if you're stupid.....
