Concert Grand-McDonough, Ga.
It appears to be a Concert Grand and you don't find them for sale very often. The price is ridiculous, to me anyway. I don't think they have a clue as to what they have, or they would've listed it as a Concert Grand. They probably just listed it with a big price hoping to hook somebody. It's very dirty and could clean up good. It may be able to be bought for a reasonable price since it's been listed for five weeks. If it was near me, I'd probably try to get them to knock one of the zeroes off of the price.

That is a Concert Grand but a late model 1961 or 1962 as it has the Collaro 600 changer. The price is ridiculous, and I agree, Danny, it should clean-up will. The big money will be going through all of the components.

As usual I can't see Facebook Marketplace listings. How much are they asking?

They're asking $3,000 for it.
You would think they would at least clean it up if they really wanted to sell it.

Re: Concert Grand-McDonough, Ga.
I think I am. The wife and I have talked about it. I need to downsize even more than I already have. I don't use them that much. I enjoy using the smaller record players more. They are simpler and they always work. I need to go thru the CG like I did the Imperial, component by component. I just don't have the motivation to do it. I get more comments on the Stereo Theater than any of them. I think it's time they went to someone who would appreciate them. No flippers and no console rapers. I don't know what they are worth, but if I price them high, there won't be any money to be made for a flipper or console raper. I'm going to sell some of my little radios and maybe a few of the console radios. I'll get my price or I'll keep them.

That's what struck me--they didn't even bother to wipe the dust away before snapping photos. I learned long ago that clean and shiny sells things in the U.S.

I see some of the Big Imperials from time to time but almost never see a Concert Grand for sale unless it's on Ebay. I'd think that after you get through restoring your Concert Grand that you should be able to get some decent money out of it.electra225 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 11:34 pm I know where you can get a Concert Grand and an Imperial for $3000.......![]()

Re: Concert Grand-McDonough, Ga.
If I go to the expense and work of restoring it, I'll keep it. I'll have $400 in output tubes alone. If I sell it, it will be as is. It works, has the remote, a repop operator's manual, and a demonstration record. The only thing that doesn't work on it is the changer. The motor is seized, typical for the motor in a Collaro changer that has set for some time. It has the original back and my hotrodded back, which works a lot better for ventilation and for watching all those tubes glowing. My wife is not a fan of either of the big Magnavox stereos. "300 pound clock radio" is her description that can be shared in polite company. She likes the little cheap, 1963 "Contemporary" model 2ST253 I have the best. We'll see. I don't have anybody coming by with cash.......

If you do sell your Concert Grand, I hope you don't regret it later on.
I had a pair of large Altec corner speakers that I really thought a lot of, and they weren't for sale. A guy knew that I had them and talked me into pricing them to him. I put a big price on them, and I didn't think he'd bite but he did. I've regretted it ever since because I haven't found anything that sounds as good as they did.

I haven't sold it yet. A guy I work with had a mid-1960's Zenith color TV that worked and was very nice he offered to give me. I really didn't have room for it. He sent it to e-waste. I have regretted that, so I know what you mean about having regrets later.....
