Back again

Post: # 21737Post TC Chris »

Just back from almost three weeks in the Canadian Maritimes. Great weather, no tourists yet, the perfect time to go. But in the various hotels and rental houses, only saw ONE radio. What is wrong with people? No consoles (no hi-fi equipment at all). We did get lots of hiking & seafood & sightseeing. There was an interesting bit of radio exhibit in the museum at the top of Mt. Washington in NH ('30s vintage equipment in photos and some slightly later items for display, like a '40s Hallicrafters receiver. The potato museum in O'Leary, P.E.I. had a nice '37 Philco tombstone and a '50s console I didn't recognize, likely a Canadian store brand.

Thanks for the update Chris. That sounds like fun and yes, you spotted more than I usually do.

I too am surprised, living in the middle of a "country-themed" tourist area, the only radio seen around here is a 52 Zenith white AM-FM prop at the Cracker Barrel and a Silvertone late 30s phono-console at Parlor Donuts

I do not see much around here either. The thrift store or antique guy have one once in a while for sale, but that is about it.
