Wurlizer jukebox

currently trying to make a deal on this... the price is fine , the owner says it takes 2 men and a boy to move it ,claims it is like 300 lbs , and it is in a basement... My son says he would come up and help me , but I am having second thoughts on it , the guy claims it quit working and these are full of mechanical machinery like a real jukebox...whaddya think? is this worth it? https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/it ... 60a8b930bd

Is it tube or solid state? I've always wanted a juke box. If I had help and the room, for that price, I don't think I could pass it up. Jukeboxes are mechanical, but there is lots of enthusiasts who could help you. Do you have any idea why it quit working, when it quit working? It might be something simple...Good luck!

Looks like late 60s or early 70s. I remember a restaurant here had one like that with the red and black grill cloth...

Looked like a waitress ran into it with a plate of spaghetti.

The VFW back home had an old Rowe that had been thru a couple wars, literally, right where it sat. The thing had been hit by chairs and God knows what else. One of the VFW members nursed that thing and changed the records. It had external speakers connected to it so it sounded really good. It was an all-tube model. I wonder if it is still there, or what happened to it.

I still have several records that came out of that old jukebox. There were played zillions of times, yet still sound reasonably good. Hank Thompson records had an especially hard life. Lots of Hank Thompson fans frequented the VFW.

My friend the "Jukebox King" would say no go.

He has many decades working on jukes, and his most
problematic ones were Wurlitzer.

Seeburgs are the best designed and least complex
mechanisms. Very reliable and repairable.

Looks to be a 1976 Wurlitzer model 7500 "Cabaret".

The older 45 RPM Wurlitzers were pretty reliable, but this one has the newer mechanism that came out in 1970, and that mechanism pretty much put Wurlitzer out of the jukebox business.

Then again, For $75, it might be a fun toy.

Seeburgs were very good jukeboxes, but sourcing cartridges and needles for them is a problem today.

My favorites are the 1950s AMI machines. They're imple to work on, and use standard mount cartridges.

What was wrong with the '70's era Wurlitzer jukeboxes changer mechanism?

Isn't the Rowe brand made by AMI?

The 1970s Wurlitzer had a terrible track record in the out in the field for all sorts of little problems. That said, for home use, reliability shouldn't be as much of a problem. I have no personal experience with that mech, but I've heard a lot about how the operators hated them.

AMI started making jukeboxes in the 1930s. I'm not sure when they became Rowe / AMI.
AMI was the only major jukebox maker that would sell to the general public. Seeburg, Rockola, and Wurlitzer only sold machines to 'operators'.

AMI was the fist jukebox that could play both sides of the records.
