Some of you that join, will already know me from the “other” forum. For those that do not know me, here is a brief history on how I got here. I have always enjoyed music and had a fascination with vintage stuff. With my enjoyment of music came the desire to have good quality sound equipment and over the years I have had my share of “good stuff” to do that with. The other part of this is I have always wanted to learn how to repair/rebuild said electronic stuff. I retired a few years ago and since I now have the time, and I am not getting any younger, I made the plunge. The first thing I did was go online and start reading everything I could, and as I did, I found the “other” forum and joined. I learned a lot, made some new friends, and have enjoyed the “other” forum until it started to have issues. Along the way I picked up some toys that needed loving, learned a lot getting them there, and now enjoy the sounds that they produce. I want to thank Greg for taking on the project of creating a new forum, and I am sure all those who join will be most appreciative that he did.

Re: My introduction!
Welcome aboard, Bill! We'll work the bugs out of the forum with everyone's help and patience. We've only been up about 24 hours, so I'm sure there'll be things that don't work like we want them to. We wouldn't have this forum if you hadn't encouraged me to give it a shot. I appreciate your support!

Re: My introduction!
Hello everyone,
Well, I've never gotten in on the ground floor of a forum,
so this should be fun.
Thank you Bill, for the email notification !
I've always loved 1950's culture of music.
In high school way back when, I was in a garage band,
and I wanted to work up a set of 1950's songs.
So, the guys said OK, as long as you work out the
chordings, et cetera. Not trained at all or able to
read music, I sat for many an hour listening to 45's
or LP's playing at 16 rpm, using my fairly good
"ear for music" to work out the songs.
We got to play a prom gig, and for one night I
was a "paid musician".
I created my own costume for that set, and I
actually did a decent guitar intro of
Johnny B. Goode by the master C. Berry.
So, working on these 1950-1960's hi-fi's
and turning on people to records is a lot of fun.
I have no electronics background, but for the last
6-7 years, I've been hanging out at ARF and
VintageHiFi sites, learning a lot of basics.
Somehow, I also got interested in re-building
the record changers. I'm at what I consider
moderate-good knowledge. It's always
rewarding to share and assist others on
their way.
Thank you Greg for undertaking creation of this new
forum. Your approach and organization of this
project is one I really respect.
One thing I've learned with age, is
patience is Still a Virtue, so you won't
have any gripes from me, ha ha !
Best,

Welcome aboard! I've never been in on the ground floor of a new forum, either. And especially not as the administrator. We'll figure it out as we go along, I reckon. I'm thrilled and honored that all of you have chosen to join me.
