Here's an update on the cartridge/needle thing. The 8T lives and sounds great. I really did not want to glue a good needle into a defective cartridge so after some pondering, I decided to use Gorilla duct tape, very sticky stuff, to temporarily hold the needle in place and it worked great. I played several records without the needle falling out and the whole time it held the needle in the pickup bridge just fine. I'm not sure I'm going to leave it that way but for now I can truly say I'm happy with the way it sounds with its original 8T cartridge. Now I need to put everything back in the console for the true and final test. Keep your fingers crossed and stay tuned.
