1961 Magnavox 24" Imperial Theatre

Yes, I have a friend who is scanning FB marketplace, endlessly locating great stuff like this just a little drive away. This is a very different model than my post on the 1962, which was not an imperial at all. AMP175, 15 inch woofs and horns, it's what it says "model 1MV355 CHER"

I got help putting it in the truck by another guy of similar age and build, whose parents had the set at the house. Looks very clean, low hour and must have some story behind it.

In the truck bed, I dusted it the same night (no rain here, just wildfire smoke) parked behind the garage, then dropped it off (myself unloading) onto a 6 ft dolly and rolled it into my flea market stand. I have no room at home or barn, so this was the only option, to generate interest and hopefully help sell some of my lighter and smaller offerings.

1959-'60 model with a Conquest changer. That is a nice one! I hope it finds a good home. That one would still have the hard-wired TV chassis instead of the PCB model.

Nice carrier! The cabinet looks to be very good condition and high quality too, in beautiful cherry.
I'd have to think it'd draw attention, but the size & weight would severely limit the audience!
One would hope if it does find a new owner they would NOT do the typical replace-with-flat-screen trick!

Why would you replace the old TV set? If you want a new TV, buy one. Why hack a work of art? Heavy, complicated, totally out of date, but we work with and preserve LOTS of stuff like that. Those old TV's give a great, small, black and white picture.

I can tell you this much, the BW TV chassis is a solid one. Little changed in the design over the years, biggest change was use of printed circuit boards starting in 1962-3.

Not as designed and refined as Zenith or RCA but just as reliable and easier to service.

A friend of mine has the same model missing its TV, which was also a 24".

If I was to locate a color TV chassis and CRT mountings, this would be my upgrade

The man I got my Stereo Theater from took a solid state roundy color Stereo Theater apart. I have the amp and the remote control stuff, along with the speakers. It was in fairly good shape, but he didn't want it, so he took it apart.
