He has a good inventory , but I mess with a lot more SS stuff than tube , so I order low voltage caps from digikey 16V and 25V

Re: Sal's Capacitor Corner
I saw this and thought somebody might be interested in it. I wish Sal well with his health issues.

Re: Sal's Capacitor Corner
That is very sad indeed. I enjoyed doing business with him and enjoyed him sharing his cars with me. He will be missed.

Re: Sal's Capacitor Corner
I always enjoyed phoning Sal a few times over the
last years.
He is such a nice guy to talk to.
He had told me he had some health issues, but I
never inquired out of courtesy.
I do hope his "Plan B" may keep his business active.
Thanks for posting this information.

Re: Sal's Capacitor Corner
He was my go-to guy for caps and resistors. I'm happy that he's arranging a way to keep the service going.
And while you guys are all talking Cadillac and Buick, he has a Chevy. Yay for Chevys! (Chevies??).

Hope he continues on, he is nice to deal with.
And I really like his green '58. I've always liked '58s and can still remember like it was yesterday seeing the first ad for them in the Baltimore Evening Sun, a full 2 page spread, on my friend Scott's kitchen table: that striking 6 light Impala rear end and 4 headlights...Wow! A trip with Dad to Marsden Chevrolet revealed a Rio Red Impala convertible in the showroom! So different and so cool... I miss those big secret Fall displays!

Re: Sal's Capacitor Corner
Me too. The secrecy--paper over the showroom windows until the big day. My most distinct new-car-intro memory though was going to the Ford dealer to see the original Mustang. Remember, this was out of sequence, mid-tear. I was a new driver and my brother didn't have his license. We drove to the dealer and sat in the Mustang. It was red, basic, 6-cyl., and didn't impress me much. At that time I was much smitten with big American GM V-8s. But the point here is that the new car was a sensation, enough to make me take a special trip across the river to check it out. I can't really imagine a new car arousing any interest these days. There 's just no fun factor in most of them.

Re: Sal's Capacitor Corner
When I was growing up our local GM dealer would close down the new car showroom, scrub it hospital clean from top to bottom. Then they would shut down the shop for half a day and the techs would scrub that down top to bottom, needless to say they were not thrilled with that job. That night the new models would be brought in from there secret hiding place for prepping, which was not really so secret because everyone knew where they were. The owner kept them behind his house, he lived just outside of town and on a couple of acres. I would always go and take my early sneak preview which I got away with because my parents were friends with the owner. I had Pontiac, Buick, and GMC trucks to drool over.

Re: Sal's Capacitor Corner
Our neighbor Lawrence Carter was the District Manager for Goodyear in the Baltimore/Mid-Atlantic region, and on the very day the Mustang was publicly introduced in April he brought home a new red '64 1/2 coupe w/ 289/auto, (same as my Dad's '64 Ford Custom 500). Needless to say I was awestruck by it, and even more so after he gave me a ride. I still remember the base price that Ford announced on introduction: $2368, just about $2362 more than I had at the time.

Re: Sal's Capacitor Corner
I need resistors for my GE restoration so I checked Sal's site and was pleased that he has found a way to keep it going. I placed an order today.

Re: Sal's Capacitor Corner
That's right, he announced it on ARF a couple of weeks ago. I'd been talking to him about '58s - his Chevy and my former Olds - and he told me at the time that he'd found someone to help carry on. He's a good guy.

Re: Sal's Capacitor Corner
Sal's Capacitor Corner is now Tony's Capacitor Corner. He had taken his ad off ARF and I wondered if Sal's health had declined further.

I took Bill's advice a while back and sent an email to Sal. He complimented me on my patience and saw to t that the order of resistors was shipped right out.
