RCA SHC-2 console

Post: # 992Post electra225 »

It looks to be all there and in good shape. Maybe priced a tad high.

That should be a good performer, and it is more than I would pay.

I thought maybe you'd like this one. I'll wager it could be had cheaper if a person was to wave cash money in their face..... ;)

Yes, the owner said OBO.
I really like the custom tonearm with the lift tab.

I bet $125 would take it, especially if someone tells
the owner what efforts/cost it will take to restore it.
(in a humble way of course !)

I didn't think it was stereo, but it is! Single-ended 6V6 audio. $150 would be a stretch for me. I'm cheap. I'd gripe if I got it for $100..... ;)

Oh yes, I'm the same way. It seems like the more
of these gals we acquire, the less money they should cost !
And finding a "great deal" is like winning the cakewalk.

Scoring something cheap is part of the game for me. I never pay restored retail for anything even if it was restored. I'd rather buy something unrestored, then assume it doesn't work and needs one of everything. Then I pay accordingly. But, that's just me, and I admit I'm cheap. ;)

That's probably a '59 model. That tonearm is actually factory RCA and notice how short it is... the 6HF1 I had had the short arm.

It's a nice, compact console but $200 is more than I'd pay, too. There was also a modern cabinet version that might pull that price but I doubt it...

I got an SHC-4 in blonde (limed oak) for $100, only after the seller rejected offers of $60 and $80. Lucky it was not far from my work and I got it on lunch hour, so I do not mind if I have to pay for such convenience.

The seller was an estate sale buyer and felt he needed to have that amount despite it did not have the original record player either.

The only thing with these SHC2's and others from RCA that year, there is one 6V6 for each channel it is not push-pull. The AM-FM does have a tuning eye  , unlike my two (1957 mono) 6HF3's.
